Heather Theurer (Artist, Illustrator)
Heather’s paintings are the product of decades of observation of people, environments, animals and textiles. Although she was not able to obtain a formal education in art, her studies of the natural world in addition to the works of great artists ranging from the renaissance to the modern era have influenced her work in a way she couldn’t imagine getting in a classroom.
Themes in her work include religious symbolism, fantasy realism, equine and wildlife, and a bold reworking of Disney characters. Her painting process is constantly morphing as she applies new techniques, but often consists of as many as 20 layers of paint and glaze until she reaches the desired levels of depth and detail that dominate her work.
Shared and collected around the world, Heather Theurer’s paintings are constructed in the midst of a bustling family with five children in Las Vegas, Nevada. Regardless of the challenges, her art has gone on to get the attention of USA Today and the LA Times, garnered contracts with Disney Fine Art and Fantasy Con, and received recognition and awards from respected organizations such as Art Renewal Center, Artist’s Magazine and Spectrum, among others.
Russell Walks (Illustrator)
Although his original goals included both becoming bionic and joining the rebellion against the Empire, Russell Walks eventually decided that his destiny lie along another path, and chose art school over adventure. Kaitlund Zupanic (Artist)
Kaitlund never doubted what she would be when she grew up. She always wanted to be an artist. On school assignments she would label herself as one even if it wasn’t an option. She needed to explore her own fantasy worlds and create mythical creatures to live in them. The horses, chickens, dogs, cats, and many other animals she grew up with became her main inspiration, but her favorite creature to draw lived only in her imagination. Dragons took shape on countless pages.
Fantasy books, games, and movies fueled Kaitlund’s love of dragons, and she decided she wanted to create them for the video game industry to see them live. She took all of the painting and illustration classes she could and achieved an AAS in Animation in 2014. She primarily focused on anatomy and animals in fantasy illustration.
Shortly after graduation, she discovered that her love for animation and 3D modeling hadn’t been as strong as her love for painting. In Fall of 2015 she took a fine art illustration course with Howard Lyon. She honed her skills and branched out into oil painting. Using past and present masterwork painters as her new inspiration, she now hopes to make her fantastical ideas come to life in digital and traditional paintings.
